Ours was great..went to church and heard an always great sermon from our new Pastor, Doug..and then we went to lunch at Chili's for the first time in ages (AND they took my all time favorite chicken tacos off of the new menu.....GRRRRRRRRRRR)...and then I went and did some shopping and Brad took the kids to practice their baseball/softball..and then we all met up for our special Valentine's dinner Brad and I had been plotting...
See, we always ditch the kids for stuff like this..leave them with the grandparents while we go out, but this year I had the idea of having a special more-fancy-dinner-than-usual at home that included them..you know, teach them some manners and make them feel special..and mix things up a bit..so, we told them we were having a special dinner, we were moving the table somewhere different, and they had to dress nice to come to the table..the excitement was building..Chaz had picked what we would have for dinner..steak on the grill, green beans, baked potatoes..and I had gotten a really rich chocolate-ly dessert and had a little gift for them..and we had candles and flowers all arranged...cloth napkins with candle rings (which Bailey just thought was the bomb), a tablecloth, and real stemware (cause the kids usually have plastic cups)..
We set the table up in the living room next to the fire..we put on some nice music (Michael Buble and Norah Jones)..and we lit the candles and called everyone to the table...
Daddy gave them a lesson in putting their napkins in their lap when they sat down..
and so, they did great with dinner and then Mama served up the chocolate cake, ice cream, and strawberries..OH, and gifts..OH yeah...
(excuse the big piece of cake in her mouth)...
and then, well, Michael Buble was playing, so we HAD to dance..
lol..what a lucky girl to have a Daddy like that..
The last thing Chaz said to me as he went to bed was "Mommy, I had a really good time tonight"...awww
I'm really glad I put forth the effort to include them now.. :)
AWWWWWWW. that totally outshines my table setting... we used a pink table cloth and red heart paper plates! LOL
I love how your outfits were all color coordinated! LOVE THAT.. and Michael.... ahhhhhh.
and I am just a little jealous of steak on the grill in Feb. =)
