I firmly believe in this saying..my friend Janet and I live by it..lol..when we got the word about the estate sale in Peachtree City, we were super excited to get our "junking fix" on..It was a huge warehouse of treasures just wating to be found..we were a bit giddy..
Here are my finds..
This is everything:
I used to collect a lot of McCoy pottery, but not so much now..but at the prices they had them ($2, $5), I couldn't pass up some black and white pieces..I practically pounced on that Scottie planter..and that little bird too...uggh, was so excited to get those..they had tons of it..big vases and planters that would have been MUCH more on Ebay or at an antique sale..if someone was a dealer, they would have been in heaven..I already have the bird under a cloche with some Easter decorations, one of the black urn ones is on my table holding the "huge egg thingie" Bailey made..the glass candy dish in the wagon is holding some pastel Easter candy eggs on my sofa table..so cute!
I noticed some themes in the things I got...first off, black and white..I have a thing for black and white stuff for my house..
Red, white, and black... and glass..I love red..Both kids have red in their room and also my scrapbook room is mainly red, black, and white..that plaid thermos? OH MY, I have the vintage cooler that it goes with..but I'm probably going to use that thermos to display during the holidays with some greenery in it or something..vintage-y cute! As far as glass, I love me an apothecary jar..I'm going to use that little wagon on the porch of Bailey's playhouse with a plant in it..
And Santa, can we talk about Santa? These little cups are collectible, and this was the only one I found or I would have bought more..I think it was less than a $1..I've seen them "en masse" on someone's blog, but I can't remember who's? Maybe "Whatever"..not sure, but I made a mental note to pick them up when I see them..He's my first :)
Vintage...I've wanted a globe for awhile and want to start a little collection because they look cute grouped together...I also like old children's books (and this one is of hymns..even the pages could be used for some things)...and any kind of wire baskets I'm going to snatch up..these look a little like locker baskets..I'm going to use them under Chaz's bed for his sports stuff..you'll be able to see them under his bed and they go with his vintage baseball theme in his room..I got both of those baskets for $2..they could be painted any color, but I'm going to keep them silver..also Bailey uses straws all the time, so the vintage straw dispenser will look right at home on my counter in the kitchen..
I also usually tend to collect dog statues, but this sweet little cat called my name..she has the best patina..
I was disappointed that I didn't find any flower frogs...I wanted some with the sharp pointed things sticking up like this, but I did find this great black flower frog..Here's an article on Martha Stewart about them...
A few other things I was disappointed to not find were some vintage cameras and an old kitchen scale. Maybe next time..the good thing is, the place we went has sales on a regular basis..Here is their website..it's in the old Velocity building in PTC...
