My in-laws live in a cool little up and coming town that likes to celebrate patriotic types of holidays...we didn't have any plans for the actual holiday and Brad had to work, so I decided to take the kids to see the parade and mix it up with some locals...
Here it is in pictures..small town USA in the South...in 95 degree high humidity weather..middle of the afternoon...lol
We walked "to town"...
and Mommy made them pose for a picture in front of my favorite metal building...
and down here in Georgia, we love our Chick fil A ...and the cow...
We saw lots of Veterans..and I thought to myself how I'd like to sit down and talk to each and every one of them and hear their stories, their history..when I have elderly patients, I like to ask them about their past, about what they did as a living, etc..it can be pretty interesting..I strongly believe that everyone has a story..did anyone see on the Today show when they did that series? They would go to random cities, pull out the phonebook, randomly choose a name, find them, and get their story...it was fascinating..I love stuff like that..love the "human experience"...and EVERYONE would always say at the beginning that they didn't really have a story, but they DID...
There are a group of people in the South who like to dress up and reenact the Civil War..and they were present in the parade..and I kept wondering how HOT they must be in those costumes?!
lol...the "Tea Party's" float...not slammin' on the Tea Party..I agree with a lot of their thoughts...
(YAY, Daddy was able to get off work early and sneak up on us at the parade :)
The Shriners always show up with their crazy antics...
These guys were a bit out of control..revving their engines and speeding along..I kept picturing those episodes of things like "When Parades Go Wrong"...a bit much for me...
When the parade was over, it was time to go in search of cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn, any type of cold drink we could get our hands on, etc...
and then Bailey had been begging to ride that darn kid's train, so off we went in seach of it and ended up in the "rip off kid's area"...geeeez....
We are SUCKERS!
Hope you had a happy Memorial Day :)
